State of the Art Hair Transplants in Cyprus

HDC Hair Clinic has been offering successful hair restoration for over 10 years. It is based in Nicosia, with consultation centers in Limassol, Larnaca and offices in London, and Valencia, Spain.

Due to its international recognition, the clinic, also gathers patients from all over the world and especially from Italy, Greece, Israel, Romania, UAE, Ireland and the UK.

The clinic offers total solutions for hair loss, like medical treatments for patients in the initial stages of hair loss, surgical hair transplantation and other non-surgical hair loss solutions.

For the purpose of this article we will concentrate on surgical hair transplantation which is believed to be the most permanent solution to hair loss.

To start with, we need to say that the principal behind hair transplant surgery stems from the permanency of some hair. While some hair on your scalp has a transient life span, other hair tends to endure for a lifetime. It was found that permanent hair could be moved to any other part of the head and it can continue to grow and behave as if it were still in its original site.

A hair transplant is a safe, minor surgical procedure that involves removing donor hair from the back or sides of the scalp (donor area) and placing them into the bald or thinning areas of the scalp (recipient area).

                 Donor Area                                          Recipient Area

The most advanced hair transplant techniques are based on follicular hair transplantation. The most contemporary method of transplanting follicles is the follicular unit extraction (FUE).

This method has been commercially introduced in the Western World in 2002. HDC as a pioneer in the hair industry was one of the first clinics in Europe to offer FUE hair transplants in September 2003.

The beauty of this technique is that it uses no knife, no scalpel, no stitches and leaves no linear scaring. It is a truly minimally invasive surgery fast healing. It is presently the most advanced hair transplantation technique in the world.

Only a few doctors are truly experienced in mastering this type of procedure right now. The actual procedure involves the use of a less than or equal to 1mm diameter punch which is inserted into the skin in order to isolate the hair follicle so as to be detached from donor area and then placed on the balding or thinning area which needs more hair.

One of the most important issues in FUE is the avoidance of donor area depletion. We have seen patients coming to our clinic with a previous FUE surgery of 3000 grafts and honestly the donor area looks like it has been very aggressively harvested. Many times there are not much more grafts left to extract and the white dot scarring is obvious. In addition the growth in the recipient is often poor and the hair is wrongly placed in both pattern and angulations. So patients should be very careful on which clinic they choose for their FUE hair transplantation. The history of consistency in good results should be a prerequisite and then start comparing cost and location.

Below we demonstrate the donor area of this specific patient (left photo), with shaved donor and before extracting 2370 grafts.  On the right hand side is the same patient 11 months after showing that the donor has no visible scarring and as if it has never been touched.

For a full demonstration of the procedure you can click on the “fue method” in our website www.hdc.com.cy where the technique is illustrated in a detailed description with demonstrating videos. Our results are one of the best in the industry and more than fifty of them are presented in detail in our website in our results section http://www.hairtransplants-hdc.com/lang-en/Hair-Transplant-Results/pageid-24/ .
